Their team has been under a transfer embargo. They suffered a humiliating season last year which almost saw them relegated to League One. Their club has just been hit with a nine-point deduction. But Birmingham City fans have reacted defiantly in the face of their adversities.
With mid-table safety gone in an instant, to be replaced with an eight-game battle to avoid the drop, it could have proved too much for many fans.
But Blues fans are savvy enough to realise how much worse it could have been, and have refused to let it get them down, with some even seeing the funny side.
News of the punishment began to circulate at lunchtime today, and reports from BBC Sport WM state there will be no financial punishment and the imposed transfer embargo will be lifted.
Fans were quick to take to social media following the announcement. Here are some of the reactions:
We must be the only fan base in the country that gets excited over a 9 point deduction so we can get our survival Sunday #bcfc

As long as the players heads don’t go down and play with the fight they have shown all season we will all KRO till the end of the road

What’s more worrying than the points deduction is the disastrous run of form… #BCFC

Watch out for the scrap until the final day

When 9 is better than 12. No fine and no embargo. Accept it. We’ve been in worse positions than this. Let this be a lesson to the board. Let’s see what happens to the other teams who have flouted the rules. KRO

Good outcome, were never going up this season, take the deduction, sign some players and smash it next year
