Celtic Starlet Won’t Be Wooed By The Bright Lights Of N17

The big EPL sides rarely have to face rejection from a player, so it must come as all the more surprising when that player is a 20 year old youngster from the SPL.

Most players in James Forrest’s position would leap at the chance to join the EPL and Spurs, but after hearing of  ‘Arry’s interest the Celtic winger seemed nonplussed.

“There are five months left this season and that is all I am focusing on — winning the league” Forrest told the Scottish Sun.

He added, “I know there has been speculation, but I don’t really think about it”.

“I want to keep playing with Celtic. I’ve been there since I was nine, so that is 11 years I’ve been there. I couldn’t really think of anything else”.

Such loyal talk is refreshing to hear amongst the stereotype of money-grabbing footballers. However, we wait to see how long Forrest’s and Celtic’s resolve will last. ‘Arry has admitted to scouting the player over the last few weeks, and Spurs are amongst several clubs preparing bids of around £7 million for the wonder kid. The club, however, are not eager to sell and will need a bid of at least £10 million if they are to even enter negotiations, say the Daily Record.

The youngster has emerged this seasons as one of Celtic’s and the SPL’s biggest assets, and was recently named by FIFA as one of the world’s best young players. There seems little doubt he will is a Pemiership star in the making, but for now Tottenham and others will have to wait (till the summer at least).
