Many Charlton fans have responded on Twitter to the announcement of a new signing.
Erhan Oztumer became the Addicks’ 13th signing of the campaign after penning a two year deal with the club.
The 28-year-old had been playing for cash-strapped Bolton Wanderers in League One this season, but only yesterday was allowed to terminate his contract with the club after he was granted permission by the EFL.
Attacking midfielder Oztumer was born in Greenwich, and actually played for the club as a youth player before allegedly getting dropped for being too small (The Set Pieces).
He later went onto play in the fourth tier of Turkish football for Anadolu Uskudar before coming back to England and playing for Dulwich Hamlet. After impressing much in South London, he was later picked up by Peterborough and Walsall before being sold to Bolton in 2018.
It’s been a bit of a disaster since joining Bolton. The player struggled to get into their first team last year and ended up handing in his notice at the club due to the ongoing financial problems. However, he is back where it all started. He joins Charlton sitting second in the league after a perfect record in the league this year.
There was a mixed response from the Charlton fanbase with many saying that the player isn’t good enough. Others, though, were more optimistic, with a few joking that they are now preparing for the Premier League.
