Chelsea reveal stance on selling “excellent” 24-year-old this summer amid interest from Barcelona

Chelsea’s underwhelming Premier League campaign looks set to extend into a turbulent summer, with the club once again facing major questions over squad direction and future planning.

Sitting ninth in the table with just two games remaining, the Blues are now highly unlikely to secure Champions League football through the traditional top-four route.

Even alternative qualification scenarios remain extremely complex and dependent on multiple results elsewhere, leaving Chelsea facing the prospect of a season without Europe’s top competition.

That situation has fuelled talk of a possible squad reshuffle, with several senior players expected to attract interest. However, the club’s stance on one of their most important recent signings has now been made clear.

Chelsea Reveal Joao Pedro Stance

Chelsea have no intention of selling Joao Pedro this summer, with club sources firmly describing the 24-year-old as one of their “untouchables,” according to the Mail Online.

The Brazilian forward, who has been labelled “excellent” by interim head coach Calum McFarlane, is viewed internally as a key part of the club’s long-term project and is not expected to be part of any transfer discussions, regardless of outside interest.

Reports in Spain had suggested Barcelona are monitoring the situation closely, with the Catalan club viewing Joao Pedro as a potential successor to Robert Lewandowski and even identifying him as a priority target ahead of the World Cup.

However, Chelsea insiders have moved quickly to shut down speculation, insisting there is no willingness to negotiate his departure.

Joao Pedro enjoyed a standout debut season at Stamford Bridge after joining from Brighton in a deal worth up to £60 million, and has already established himself as one of the team’s most reliable attacking threats with 20 goals in all competitions. His contract runs until 2033, and there is currently no indication he is seeking a move away from west London.

For Chelsea, the message is clear: despite the uncertainty surrounding the squad, Joao Pedro is seen as a cornerstone for the future — not a player available for sale this summer.
