The Manchester United fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern are used to being inundated by rumours and reports at this time of year, so there was little surprise upon their faces today.
That’s because the Red Devils are once again strongly linked with a big money move, this time for Inter Milan forward Ivan Persic. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, United are ready to bid up to €52m for the Croatian international this summer, a rather surprising amount for the former Wolfsburg man.
While he’s undoubtedly a good player, recent links with the likes of Antoine Greizmann and James Rodriguez had our resident Red Devils dreaming about bigger name targets. Indeed, the idea of seeing Perisic arrive at such a high price seems to be a relative disappointment.
