Aston Villa have a need for centre-backs as they have just Axel Tuanzebe and James Chester as their recognised senior options.
Dean Smith’s side have certainly turned things around in regards to results, with the Villans having been unbeaten in their last four Championship matches.
James Collins has been training with the club in order to keep up his fitness and has been playing matches for the developmental side, whilst trying to win a contract with the Midlands outfit.
And, it appears as though a decision about his future at Villa Park could be made in the next 48 hours.
The Verdict:

Collins is an experienced professional and could certainly help to improve Aston Villa’s defence.
Whether that be in a playing role or just being another option for the club to be able to call upon, should Chester or Tuanzebe be injured or receive a suspension, something that has happened at some point already this season.
Having been out of contract since the summer, the 35-year-old would be free to join the club and be available immediately, however, it remains to be seen if he has done enough to impress Smith during his short time there.
