Elmohamady receives high praise from Aston Villa fans for his creative efforts

Aston Villa kicked off their new journey under boss Dean Smith today with a win against fellow ex-Premier League side Swansea City.

Tammy Abraham was the man to open the scoring with a goal in the 8th minute, which later proved to be the decider in a fairly equal contest.

Although the game could be brushed off as fairly uneventful – at least on paper – given its low score, we think there’s enough reason for fans to be extremely pleased with what they witnessed today. And, with so many shots exchanged in the game (26 in total), it wouldn’t be outlandish to suggest that the entertainment factor is slowly making its way back to the club.

One of the standout performers in the game was Egyptian full-back Ahmed Elmohamady, who boost his league assist total up to 4.

Opinions on the industrious defender are mixed, but there was no complaining about his efforts against Swansea.
