Everton are reportedly 'serious' about signing Empoli left-back Fabiano Parisi, and could make an official offer.

The Lowdown: Italian starlet

At just 22 years of age, Parisi is one of the rising stars in Italian football, having played 62 times for Empoli since the 2020/21 season, scoring three goals and making a further three assists (Transfermarkt).

The defender has particularly made a name for himself this term though, putting in numerous man-of-the-match performances at the start of the campaign, including one against Fiorentina where he was praised for his 'incredible' maturity and 'masterful' defending by journalist Alvaro Canibe.

The Latest: Everton 'serious'

As per Italian news outlet Pianeta Empoli, the Goodison Park outfit are 'serious' about signing Parisi, and could even present an official offer for him.

However, Bundesliga club Wolfsburg could do the same, while they also face competition from the likes of Napoli, Inter Milan, Juventus, Lazio, Fiorentina and Nice for his signature.

Empoli would also prefer to sell in the summer, rather than in the January transfer window, and could hold out for €15m (£13.2m) to let him go.

The Verdict: Mykolenko competition

Parisi would give quality competition to Vitaliy Mykolenko in the left-back role, should he make the move to Merseyside.

Sharing a similar playing style to the Ukraine international, he ranks in the top 5% of his positional peers in Europe's top five leagues for dribbles completed and blocks per game over the last year, and in the top 14% for clearances and 18% for non-penalty xG (FBRef).

He has also been likened to Liverpool's Andy Robertson for his 'tireless running and vicious crosses in the box', which suggests that he could thrive in the Premier League.

With Ruben Vinagre set to leave after his loan spell ends, the summer presents an ideal time for the Toffees to get their hands on Parisi, and bolster up the left-back position.
