Ex-Arsenal midfielder makes bold statement about Spurs star

Speaking to The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on Talksport, Ray Parlour made the massive claim that he’d rather Spurs midfielder Dele Alli than Manchester United’s Paul Pogba – dividing the Transfer Tavern in the process.

The former Arsenal man has been impressed with the England international so much he thinks he’d have him in his side over the Frenchman who joined Manchester United in the summer and said:

“Dele Alli is superb. The debate was Alli or Pogba. A lot of people would go with Alli. He has a knack of getting into the right areas and scoring a goal. He is an all-round good footballer. Spurs have a real gem in their side. What a signing for £5million from MK Dons.”

Alli has been a mainstay in the Spurs side since he joined from the Football League side and scored one of the goals of last season against Crystal Palace.

He’s off the mark this season, too, with Spurs looking like they will challenge for the title once again this season.

Pogba, meanwhile, has also played for Manchester United a fair amount this season but has had quite a few critics over his performances with the Red Devils outside of the top four at the moment.

We did a quick whip round of opinion here by the bar here in the Transfer Tavern, too, and most actually agree with Parlour at the moment.

They feel Alli just has more to offer going forward whilst Pogba looks pedestrian far too often.
