The Saints in the Transfer Tavern want to see more bite and less bark from their club’s players after their Danish midfielder has claimed that from now, the club’s players can’t hide. The 22-year-old played the full 90 minutes as the Saints fell to a 3-0 defeat away at fellow strugglers, Newcastle.
Southampton fans could be forgiven for fearing the worst at the moment. Mauricio Pellegrino’s side was well beaten on Saturday as they fell to four Premier League games without a win and have only managed one win in their last 17 attempts. The St Mary’s faithful currently sit just a point above the relegation zone and look increasingly likely to drop into England’s second tier as the club face a tough run in for their final eight games.
It’s hard to see a way out for Pellegrino’s side, as they face trips to Arsenal, Leicester and Everton as well as having to host Chelsea and Manchester City in five of their last eight games. This tough run of fixtures couldn’t come at a worse time as the south coast side can’t even seem to buy a win in the final few months of the season. Relegation to the Championship would be inexcusable for the fans as the club has set themselves high standards, finishing in the top eight for the last four Premier League seasons.
With that in mind, here’s our resident Saints’ verdict:
Never one to make outburst type statements, but for goodness sake stop publishing player statements and replace the Manager. The poor man needs to be relieved of his duties now, whilst there is still time to rescue the club from relegation!!
