Plenty of Glasgow Rangers fans have voiced their agreement with Neil Warnock over comments that the Middlesbrough manager made about the Ibrox club.
Following Jamie O’Hara’s claim earlier this week that managing Bournemouth is “a bigger job” than at Ibrox, Warnock took a very difference stance when speaking on BBC Sportsound.

In a clip that was shared on Twitter via @BBCSportScot, the 71-year-old, who has managed the likes of Sheffield United, Crystal Palace and Cardiff in the English Premier League, said: “If you put Celtic and Rangers down in England, you’re talking about the top six.
“Those two clubs, if they got the money that the English clubs have coming in, they would spend it. They’d spend it on good players and they would then compete.
“I look at Celtic and Rangers – I don’t think about Man City or Liverpool, I think they’re way ahead – but I think the rest below that, Man United, Chelsea, I think Rangers and Celtic would more than cope with that.”

The ‘Gers reached the last 16 of the Europa League in 2019/20, their best showing on the continent in nine years, while their Glasgow rivals also made it to the knockout rounds of the competition. Indeed, Gerrard’s side progressed further in the tournament than Arsenal, who were eliminated in the round of 32.
The restricted financial climate in which the ‘Gers operate in Scotland is reflected in Ryan Kent being the only player in the last 15 years that they have signed for more than £5m (as per TransferMarkt). By contrast, recently-relegated Watford were able to lash out a reported £30m on Ismaila Sarr last summer, highlighting the difference in spending power between the top leagues in England and Scotland.
