The West Ham United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are buzzing for Saturday’s opener against Tottenham but they may be a little short in attack.
That is because the Hammers have been dealt a blow after reports suggested that a move for Metz striker Diafra Sakho is off.
According to talkSPORT, 24-year-old Sakho was all set to sign for the East London outfit having undergone a medical over the weekend.
However reports in France now suggest that the deal is dead in the water after he returned to France.
The Hammers thought they had secured a £3.5 million deal for the striker who was top scorer in Ligue 2 last season.
But it now seems the French outfit have changed their demands and now want a loan-to-buy deal with an option to purchase the player outright next summer.
The news comes as a major blow to Sam Allardyce who is doing his best to find a replacement for Andy Carroll after the former Newcastle United striker was ruled out for four months.
West Ham fans. It seems that Allardyce is still in the market for a striker. So what do you think of the rumours linking Sunderland’s Connor Wickham to the club? Let us know your thoughts below.
