The Newcastle United fans here in the Transfer Tavern have had a stressful summer already. Indeed, the Toon Army have already had to deal with rumours suggesting there was big interest in crucial figures such as Rafa Benitez and Jamaal Lascelles and we’re not even into June yet.
So, you’d forgive our resident Geordies for celebrating like madmen as soon as a piece of good news permeates the zeitgeist. Which is exactly why when reports from the Chronicle emerged claiming the club had £100k-p/w players on their transfer radar, our punters clad in black and white were dancing on the pool tables.
Life under Mike Ashely’s ownership has never proven an easy process during a transfer window, though at least there’s a glimmer of hope following these reports. At last.
#NUFC's looking to clear the decks with £100,000 per week players on radar. Rafa is currently co-ordinating a plan with managing director Lee Charnley, who faces one of his busiest summers yet as the Toon manager aims to get things right first time around. https://t.co/plXnHrYDpY

With that in mind, here’s a look at how Newcastle fans reacted on Twitter as the club look to right the wrongs of last summer.
Speed is the key. We can’t drag these deals out in an effort to save a few pennies. Last minute deals rarely work. Get the blokes in that Rafa wants ASAP so that he can prepare properly for the season ahead. #nufc #hwtl
