The celebrations continued long into the night for the Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern following their promotion last night, at the first time of asking.
It’s been a long and arduous campaign for the Toon Army in their attempts to restore Premier League status, though last night’s win over Preston North End saw their return sealed.
As you can well imagine, social media erupted at the final whistle, sparking celebrations from all around the world. Indeed, even a former Sunderland player has taken to Twitter to congratulate members of the black and white army.
Former Black Cat Jozy Altidore tweeted in support of Toon star DeAndre Yedlin, who he plays with at international level, who was celebrating with his teammates at St. James’ Park last night.
Congrats boss @yedlinny !!! Well deserved #NUFC

With Yedlin also having plied his trade on Wearside, the Sunderland fans drowning their sorrows in the Tavern couldn’t be feeling much lower right now.
Thoughts?
