Introducing: The Birmingham City duo who will test Dean Smith’s improving Aston Villa defence

Aston Villa will be looking to make it three wins on the bounce when they welcome rivals Birmingham City in the Championship tomorrow.

The Villans are fresh off back-to-back victories against Bolton and mostly recently Derby County, beating the latter 3-0 in what many expected to be a difficult test for Dean Smith’s men.

In the end, though, they easily saw past the challenge of Frank Lampard’s side but could yet be in for another tricky fixture when Birmingham make the trip to Villa Park.

In Che Adams and Lukas Jutkiewicz, the Blues have one of the most deadliest strikeforces in the Championship right now.

So far this season, Adams has scored eight goals including a hat-trick in his last outing versus Hull City, while Jutkiewicz has found the back of the net on nine occasions.

Together, the duo have struck up quite the strike partnership, a striker partnership that will surely put Aston Villa to the test.

Under Smith, the Villans have improved significantly at the back compared to earlier in the campaign when Steve Bruce was still in charge.

Having leaked goals left, right and centre, Smith’s men were able to keep consecutive clean sheets against Bolton and Derby, which will give captain James Chester and the rest of his defence confidence heading into their massive derby.

With the form Adams and Jutkiewicz are currently in, though, the duo could end up providing Aston Villa with a test like no other.
