Aston Villa will be looking to build on their terrific 3-0 win versus Derby County when they take on rivals Birmingham City in the Championship at Villa Park tomorrow.
Dean Smith’s men were superb last time out with John McGinn, Conor Hourihane and Tammy Abraham all getting their names on the scoresheet that day.
Abraham, in particular, has looked good in front of goal this season and has led the line well overall for the Villans, which has resulted in Jonathan Kodjia being pushed out wide by Smith.
When fit, Kodjia mostly played up front under Aston Villa’s previous boss Steve Bruce but has since been forced to settle for a spot on the wing following Smith’s appointment, a spot which he could be in danger of losing later down the line.
In recent weeks, Yannick Bolasie’s form has picked up while his ability in general means he is too much of a good player to leave on the bench.
1v1, you probably will not find a better winger in the Championship. Bolasie is quick, can dribble with both feet and capable of performing insane pieces of skill.
What has let the 29-year-old down in the past is his end product. However, the havoc and disruption he can cause to an opposition defence still makes him a dangerous weapon to have and one that Smith must fully utilise starting from tomorrow against Birmingham.
