Aston Villa: Fans criticise Keinan Davis following dismal Carabao Cup exit

Plenty of Aston Villa fans have waded in to voice their criticism towards striker Keinan Davis following their side’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Stoke City in the Carabao Cup last night.

The Villains were sent packing from the competition at the expense of lower league opposition, after what was a forgetful night of football as far as Dean Smith’s side were concerned.

Davis came into the fold to make only his second start of the season and was given the chance to impress. But unfortunately, it was not to be.

Per Sofascore, the 22-year-old was given a match rating of just 6.3, the lowest from the starting eleven. This was because he failed to register a shot on target and lost all of his aerial duels during the 90 minutes.

Valued at £2.07m by TransferMarkt, Davis has been at Villa since December 2015 and played a considerable amount of football last season. But having failed to get on the scoresheet in the Premier League, Davis has found himself fall down the pecking order, especially after the signing of Ollie Watkins from Brentford.

Unsurprisingly, supporters were not impressed with Davis’ outing and rushed to Twitter to make their feelings heard:

Journalism graduate from the University of Chester. Joined Transfer Tavern in October 2020. Liverpool fan based in the north-west who will not hear a bad word said about Lucas Leiva. Gained experience with Manchester Futsal Club and 90MIN. Strongly disapproves of short corners and foul throws.
