Kalvin Phillips has proven to be a towering figure in Leeds United’s midfield this season. So, it’s no surprise his return ahead of the clash with Brentford was met with excitement by supporters on Twitter.
The Yorkshire-native has proven to be one of the more consistent performers in the Championship, averaging more tackles and the second-most blocks compared to his teammates (via WhoScored). However, he also has an outstanding ability on the ball, having played the joint-second most key passes, despite the fact he is considered a defensive midfielder.
There was one point in the campaign where Phillips’ displays saw him attract interest from one of the Premier League’s ‘big boys’ with Manchester United said to be interested in signing the 24-year-old (via Football Insider).
One fan called his comeback a ‘massive boost’.

A return to the starting XI is welcome news for Marcelo Bielsa as he looks to overturn a run of form which has seen them blow away a 13-point gap to third-place. It’s something that excites the Elland Road faithful as they reacted to the news.
