Leeds boss gives update ahead of big Birmingham clash

Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern are dreaming of a Premier League return – one that at times has felt a lifetime away.

The Whites’ fall from the big time is well known, but they really have picked themselves up under the stewardship of Garry Monk, who has developed a young, hungry team with some really talented individuals.

With an eight-point advantage over Fulham in the last spot outside of the play-off zone in the Championship, the Yorkshire club know they have a good chance of making the four-team mini competition for the final place in the top flight, with Brighton and Newcastle, perhaps, a little too far away now.

That makes this weekend’s clash with Birmingham a vital one, and with the Blues stuck in midtable, Leeds must be aiming for a three-point haul at St Andrew’s Stadium.

In the run-up to tomorrow night’s game, Monk has taken to Twitter to confirm that his side have had their last training session before the tie and that the game represents a “tough challenge” for his team:

“Tough challenge” it may be, but travelling fans will be confident of taking another step towards the play-offs.
