According to The Yorkshire Evening Post, the Championship is banding together to argue for a better TV deal from Sky. Leeds United, along with Derby County, Aston Villa and Brentford to name a few are arguing that Championship clubs should be given larger payments to be shown live on Sky and aren’t happy with the current offer that the broadcasters have tabled them.

Leeds have been shown live on Sky more time than any other EFL club so it’s no surprise to see them stepping up and arguing against the deal that they’ve been offered. The relevant parties met last Tuesday to discuss the terms of the agreement, where Sky are offering £119 million, up from £90 million, to Championship clubs in exchange for showing an increased figure of 183 live games.
The new deal hasn’t impressed a lot of Championship clubs and the fact that Leeds’ owner Andrea Radrizzani made his fortunes through broadcasting and his company, eleven sports, could rival Sky for a contract if he decides to try and try and do with the Championship what he’s done with La Liga. However, for now, that looks extremely unlikely and The Whites will have to come to an agreement with Sky.
