Leeds United fans on Twitter are not best pleased with the news that the club are looking to bring Illan Meslier in on a season-long loan deal this summer.

Sky Sports reporter Tim Thornton has revealed on Twitter that the 19-year-old Lorient goalkeeper is expected to undergo a medical on Wednesday ahead of a temporary switch to Elland Road.
According to statistics collected by Transfermarkt, the teenager has played 30 matches for the Ligue 2 outfit, keeping 11 clean sheets and conceded just 32 goals in his debut campaign.
Meslier has represented France’s Under-2o national team on four occasions, with two of those appearances coming in the 2019 Under-20 World Cup (Transfermarkt).
Although not much about him will be known in England, although he was accidentally noticed by Chelsea, the shot-stopper has been described by his former coach at Lorient, Stephane Le Garrec, as ‘quiet a force’ and someone with ‘real personality’.
“He’s a great kid,” he told Goal. “He’s pretty atypical compared to the young players we can get in academies, Illan is a quiet force.
“He’s a bit like Montpellier goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte, who I trained. We felt he had real personality, he knew what he wanted.”
However, those reviews do not appear to have impressed the Leeds fans on Twitter as many of them cannot understand why the club are looking to conduct a deal with another young goalkeeper.
Although Bailey Peacock-Farrell may have departed for Burnley recently, the Whites still have the likes of Will Huffer and Kamil Miazek to deputise for Kiko Casilla.
Here are just some of their reactions below…
Can’t be that good if he’s French league 2 and can’t get a game. Waste of a loan if you ask me when it will mean no Neketiah.

Waste of time and money. Weve got 19 year old goalies already…. and plenty of loan players too.

Where’s the logic in signing a 19 year old keeper on loan? Help Graham, help

What a stupid decision, he is 19 … we have our own youth we can use as back up to Kiko. Or is he coming in for the under 23’s, which again is baffling #fingeroutorta #lufc
