Leeds United fans have been siding with Victor Orta after the Spaniard’s comments at half-time during the win over Millwall emerged.
The FA released a statement about actions of the club’s director of football as they claimed the figure lashed out at the referee Darren England and his assistants. It emerged that Orta told England he loved ‘messing with people’s lives and families’, in reference to some decisions which went against the Whites (FA via Yorkshire Evening Post).
With the Lions 1-0 up, the ball was alleged to have gone out of play in the build-up to the penalty which led to the London outfit’s second goal (via BBC). However, the decision didn’t prove to be too costly with Marcelo Bielsa’s side eventually winning 3-2 thanks to a stunning second-half comeback. Fans were pleased with Orta after his comments were made public as they agreed with the former Sevilla man. Here is a selection of tweets:
Spot on from Orta. The decisions were diabolical to the point where you’d question the referee’s agenda. The fact that he had to amend the wording in his report says a lot. He couldn’t stop looking at linesman when Bamford scored first goal, waiting for a flag.

There were 6, possibly 7 Millwall playing him inside and you’re right, he was looking for a reason. Absolute cheat imo.

Victor wasn’t wrong either. So much love for that man’s passion 👍

It was a fair comment from Orta. It wasn’t appropriate to make in the circumstances, but the sentiment wasn’t wrong.

2000 pound fine for telling the truth.
England was a disgrace .
I would not let him run my bath let alone a championship game.— Gazza (@Gazza42004748) February 17, 2020
It’s probably the worst refereeing performance I’ve ever seen. Their actions are totally understandable.
