Leeds United fans have made their feelings clear after the club’s stance on signing Andre Gray from Watford emerged.
According to Football Insider, the side are reluctant to make a move for the Englishman, who can be signed if interested parties agree to pay his £80k-a-week wages in full. The team have been linked with a move for Gray with the British publication claiming they were able to sign the former Burnley man if they paid a £2m loan fee.
The Whites failed to score a goal for the third game in a row as they lost 1-0 away to Queens Park Rangers last Saturday (via WhoScored). Patrick Bamford missed numerous opportunities including a one-on-one chance and penalty as Marcelo Bielsa’s side found themselves floundering in the final third (via BBC). Indeed, Gray’s average of 1.1 shots per game this campaign is less than the former Middlesbrough man, who has more than three shots per league fixture.
Fans don’t believe his wages would unsettle the other players at the club as they took to Twitter to react, with one fan pointing out that Pierre-Michel Lasogga made a reported £56,000 a week at the club. Here is a selection of tweets from the Elland Road faithful:
I don’t think his wage would, there’ll be a great bonus for all if we get promoted and getting someone in who can score goals will ensure that happens!

Some of them will be on 70k if they deliver and get us to the prem. if it takes bringing him in to get us there so be it

Come on. That’s not true at all. They are also Incredibly adept at passing them to the keeper as well.

Not a bad point to be fair. Might be what’s needed to kick out any complacency – a big earner who shows them 1. How it’s done and 2. Why he’s paid what he is. https://t.co/Hw8lF3un2f
