Leeds United: Fans disagree with Phil Hay on psychological aspect of club’s form

Psychology can be a big thing in football, as pointed out by the Daily Telegraph a few years ago. At this moment in time, Leeds United are on a downward spiral having endured a spectacular drop-off in form since winning seven consecutive games in the Championship.

When moving to the club in 2018, Marcelo Bielsa brought in a number of people to aid him and the club in achieving their target of promotion to the Premier League. From fitness gurus to coaches working in his native South America, a raft of individuals joined the Argentine in his new quest with the Yorkshire outfit. However, one thing that was missing amid the various appointments was someone who analysed and helped with the psychological aspect of the game (via Phil Hay).

Failing to appoint such a person seems to be a mistake from the 64-year-old with the Whites having experienced a quite sensational loss in form yet again. Having previously been 13 points clear of third place, they now find themselves level on points with Fulham as they look to hold on to their automatic promotion spot. Indeed, some fans weren’t too keen on Hay’s article as they took to Twitter to react.
