Leeds United fans were lauding Alfie McCalmont after the player’s goal in the 5-0 win for the under-23s over Hull City yesterday.
McCalmont was on fire for the young side with his showing in midfield earning rave reviews from Leeds Live, who gave him a seven out of 10 for yesterday’s performance.
His goal was the main talking point among fans as he exchanged a one-two at the edge of the box before bursting past two defenders and slotting into the far corner (via Leeds Utd).
McCalmont’s performances, this season, have earnt him a call-up to the Yorkshire outfit’s first-team with the Northern Irish midfielder having featured in the Carabao Cup, twice (via Transfermarkt).
The Whites ran riot as goals from Jack Jenkins, Ryan Edmondson (2), McCalmont and Liam McCarron ensured that Carlos Corberan’s side started 2020 with a win.
It’s a victory which leaves the side second in the league table, one point behind leaders Burnley (via Soccerway).
Fans were full of good thoughts for the 19-year-old as they took to Twitter to lavish him with praise for his performance and goal yesterday.
