A number of Leeds United fans were lauding Jonny Howson after the former Whites midfielder’s words following Middlesbrough’s loss to the Yorkshire outfit.
One fan claims (Sky Sports via Lee Deverell) the central midfielder mouthed the words ‘you’re going to do it’ when he embraced match-winner Mateusz Klich after the full-time whistle, and even if the lip-reading wasn’t spot on it was clearly a positive message. Howson started his career with the Elland Road outfit and made more than 200 appearances before leaving for Norwich in 2012.
One fan labelled him a ‘class act’.
Good on ya Howson, got us back into this league – class act

His move away proved controversial because the player was just 23, as well as being the club captain, and had rejected the offer of a new contract. Leeds even confirmed at the time of his sale that they had ‘reluctantly’ accepted a bid from the Norfolk outfit with Howson claiming he moved because he wanted to play in the Premier League. His comments about Leeds’ current chase for promotion were loved by many of the Elland Road faithful, who took to Twitter to lavish him with praise. Here is a selection of tweets from supporters:
End of the day, Howson is Leeds. He was one of the best players on the pitch and I’m pretty sure he would love to be in the Leeds shirt today x
