Leeds United fans were lauding Kalvin Phillips amid a potential call-up to the England squad for the Yorkshire native.
According to Phil Hay, England boss Gareth Southgate has come to watch the defensive midfielder several times this season. The Athletic’s journalist goes on to claim that people around the 23-year-old do think the 49-year-old wants to see him get tested at Premier League-level.
Phillips has been at the Yorkshire outfit for his whole career and has formed a superb part of their team this campaign, having made 26 appearances in the Championship (via Transfermarkt) However, he proves to be a unique case when compared to other international prospects as he has never been capped at any youth level.

Difference between Kalvin and the others who have received youth caps is Bielsa. Kalvin’s been coached by one of the very best. Bielsa saw something and Kalvin’s taken everything on board, he deserves that call up. The whole of Leeds would be proud, he’s one of our own! 💪
