Leeds United fans were displaying their shock after a statistic about Mateusz Klich emerged following the 3-2 victory over Millwall on Tuesday evening.
His start in that Championship game means the Poland international has now started every single league and play-off game that Marcelo Bielsa has taken charge of (77). This is more appearances, including play-off matches, than any other player in the second tier of English football (via LUFC Data).
One fan simply couldn’t believe what he was reading, labelling it as “astounding”.
You’ve also got to consider that he’s never received a ban in 77 games, which for a midfielder who gets involved is astounding.

Klich has enjoyed a decent campaign so far this season, starting every league game as he’s notched up three goals and an assist (via Transfermarkt). He averages the joint-third most shots on goal and the third-most key passes in Leeds’ squad, showing his quality in attack (via WhoScored).
Fans were full of good words for the player after the stat about his playing time under the Argentine manager emerged as they took to Twitter to react. Here is a selection of tweets from the Elland Road faithful:
77 consecutive league games??? JEEEEEEESUS that’s pretty impressive when was the last player to do that many?

The player that nearly left when Bielsa came in. What a turnaround

And to think he was a fringe player before the stoke game when Bielsa first started. But an injury got him in the team and he’s been unplayable ever since

He also doesn’t get international breaks like some of the squad. He’s usually with the National Squad. Incredible fact
