Leeds United: Fans react to Phil Hay tweet about Marcelo Bielsa’s actions after Forest loss

The Athletic journalist Phil Hay has revealed an interesting detail about what happened behind the scenes at Leeds United following their 2-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest back in February.

The loss at the City Ground had extended what was a poor run of form for the Whites at the time. Indeed, it was their fourth defeat in five league games and they had won just two in their last 10 Championship outings (Transfermarkt).

It meant that Leeds’ place in the top two had come under serious threat and as a result, manager Marcelo Bielsa changed his approach after the result against Forest. According to Hay, the Argentine boss shelved his usual video analysis session and instead gave a rousing speech which got a big round of applause.

Bielsa’s speech certainly seems to have had the desired effect. Indeed since then they have won four and drawn one of their next five (Transfermarkt) which has seen them go five points clear of third-placed Fulham (BBC Sport).
