Leeds United fans were showing their support for Barry Douglas after a post from Phil Hay about the Scotland international.
The Athletic journalist claimed that the Whites were ‘so pleased’ when Wolverhampton Wanderers had put the 30-year-old up for sale. Douglas has been in and out of Marcelo Bielsa’s side this season though, making just 13 appearances across all competitions (via Transfermarkt).
This has given Ezgjan Alioski the opportunity to impress on the left side of the defence as he’s made 14 appearances. However, according to Hay, neither player has done well at left-back as he picked it out as Bielsa’s ‘problem position’.
The Yorkshire outfit have suffered from a poor defensive record over the last few fixtures, conceding in their last eight games across all competitions (via WhoScored). Fans were left showing their support for Douglas after Hay’s post as they took to Twitter to react. Here is a selection of tweets from the Elland Road faithful:
Douglas has the brain but not the legs for a full back in a bielsa team alioski is the opposite

Don’t think we would have lost that game on Saturday if Douglas was on the pitch, if alioski was to come on it should have been for Costa

Douglas is class, part of the problem here is, like Bamford last season, he has had alot of injuries and we haven’t seen him fully fit, once he gets a run of games, we will have the 2 best full backs in the league

Injuries imo. I think if he can get a run of games together he will be more than a solid lb for us.

A cracking article @PhilHay_ , did Douglas just look better in what was an excellent championship Wolves team?
Personally, I do rate the lad, he has had an awful run with injuries etc.. I’d love him to get a good run at LB, there is a good player in there somewhere!— Nick Rippon-Smith 💙💛 (@NickRipponSmith) January 15, 2020
There was no problem at left back on Saturday until Bielsa created a problem by taking off the left back!

Leeds fans, which of the two men would you prefer at left-back? Let us know your thoughts!
