It seems that plenty of Leeds United supporters would like to see Tyler Roberts given a chance in the starting line-up following his performance against Hull City at the weekend.
The 21-year-old came off the bench at the KCOM Stadium and made a huge impact, scoring two goals despite only being on the pitch for 23 minutes (Transfermarkt). Roberts has not been a regular in Marcelo Bielsa’s team this season. Indeed he has only featured in 13 Championship fixtures so far (Transfermarkt) and recently missed several games after picking up a leg muscle injury against Reading back in November (LeedsLive).
Having him back and amongst the goals is a huge bonus for Leeds, who lost Eddie Nketiah in January after he was recalled by Arsenal (Sky Sports) whilst Jean-Kévin Augustin has a minor injury which is keeping him out at the moment (LeedsLive).
Roberts can now compete with Patrick Bamford for the centre-forward spot in the team, and it seems that some fans think that he should actually replace the 26-year-old in the starting 11 for their next game against Huddersfield Town.
Here is what some had to say on Twitter, as one supporter said it is a ‘no brainer’ to start the Wales international…
Roberts confidence is high now Bamford is low we need to start Roberts I think why not

A fully fit Roberts is 10 times better than Bamford btw. Our frontline looks so good rn

I am still buzzing that Tyler Roberts scored 2 yesterday for Leeds, I think he should be starting up front every game, even if he’s not fit he will do a better job than Patrick Bamford.. #lufc #mot

It’s a no brainer that Tyler Roberts should start for Leeds up front on Saturday. #lufc #mot

I would definitely give Roberts a run of games. He looks in good nick & give Bamford a rest for the next few games & see how Roberts holds up. #lufc

Hope Roberts gets a chance in the coming games. Good player, but needs to keep himself fit

25 minutes on the pitch. 2 shots. 2 goals. There is no debate, Roberts has to start against Huddersfield. We cannot continue under the illusion that Bamford will ever be consistent enough at the top level #LUFC https://t.co/LmJNCLUYuu
