Leeds United: Glenn Murray’s comments spark further fan debates

Brighton and Hove Albion striker Glenn Murray has commented on the potential of the Championship not being able to resume, claiming teams should not be promoted if it does not finish on the pitch.

The Premier League striker was talking on Sky Sports’ The Football Show about the potential return of the Premier League and his side’s relegation battle.

Sitting two points off the dropzone in the league table, Brighton will look to remain in England’s top flight, but talk of a potential halt to relegation if the Championship does not continue, is being heard.

Whilst the Premier League seems to be moving closer to a return after the recent pandemic postponed games, the Championship is yet to make such plans.

Murray believes that if England’s second flight do not finish the 2019/2020 season on the pitch then clubs should not gain promotion and therefore, clubs should not be relegated from the Premier League.

The striker’s comments follow those of Norwich City director Stuart Webber, who said similar on Wednesday’s episode of the show.
