Leeds United’s 21-year-old academy product Robbie Gotts is viewed as a ‘first-team star of the future’ and is held in high esteem by Whites manager Marcelo Bielsa.
That’s according to a recent report from Football Insider which sheds light on the Argentinian manager’s plan for Gotts.
Why did Leeds United relocate Gotts to Salford City?
This comes after the 21-year-old’s loan spell at League One Lincoln City was ended last Friday, with the player immediately getting sent to League Two Salford City instead, where he will remain for the rest of the 2020/21 campaign.
In this report from Football Insider, it was explained that this was a ‘shock double move‘ from Leeds, with Gotts having only just scored his first professional goal for the Imps earlier in the week.
However, the decision was allegedly made because the Yorkshire club felt that he wasn’t getting enough game time at Lincoln and as a result, they relocated him to Salford, as they believe he can start regularly for the League Two club.
It’s also claimed that Leeds wanted Gotts to go out on loan to a team that dominates possession and they feel Salford offer this, with the Ammies having kept the sixth-highest average possession percentage of any team in England’s fourth tier this term, per WhoScored.
