Every week, football fans across the country stand on their doorsteps to take part in the ‘Clap for our Carers’ routine, a nationwide initiative to support the NHS during the pandemic.
Loads of Leeds United supporters gushed over a post from the club’s official Twitter account, after the Whites shared footage of former players celebrating medical staff in the weekly scheme.

Eagle-eyed Peacocks spotted plenty of famous faces old and new, including the likes of Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani, legends Gordon Strachan, Nigel Martyn, Eddie Gray and Peter Lorimer. Rio Ferdinand also took part, as well as ex-United midfielder Fabian Delph, who donned the well-known first team jersey.
Thursday’s video was particularly poignant after the sad passing of Norman Hunter earlier in the month, a member of England’s 1966 World Cup winning squad, coupled with the appearance of Gary Speed’s parents.
Naturally, the “superb” clip prompted lots of replies from the Elland Road faithful, with one fan describing the scenes as “brilliant,” and another simply calling the tweet “class.”
