Serie A expert Conor Clancy has revealed Leeds United will have to turn their attentions elsewhere as top target Nahitan Nandez has his heart set on a move to Inter Milan.

Marcelo Bielsa has been keen to bolster his midfield options before the transfer window closes and Uruguay international Nandez, who is currently on the books of Italian side Cagliari, has featured on his wishlist for close to a year.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Leeds thought they had got their man last month. The report suggests the Yorkshire club had agreed a deal worth €36million.

However, Italian giants Inter entered the race for the midfielder's services and an FC Inter News report alleges that Nandez has made the San Siro his preferred destination. The article reveals Nandez has already agreed personal terms, including a four-year contract, with the reigning Serie A champions.

Nandez, who featured for Uruguay at the Copa America this summer, scored two goals in 34 Cagliari appearances last term.

Forza Italian Football editor Clancy believes any lingering hopes of Nandez heading to Elland Road are over.

He told The Transfer Tavern: "It's increasingly unlikely that he will go to Leeds.

"Inter are very big on him. Inter and Cagliari have been in talks for about six weeks now, trying to sort out a deal.

"Inter want three Cagliari players and Nandez is one of them. They will make a push for Nandez and he is a brilliant player."
