Leeds United kicked-off their pre-season schedule in style last night with an impressive 5-0 victory over York City as one player in particular ended up stealing the show at Bootham Crescent.
Signed on a season-long deal from Manchester City earlier on this month (via BBC Sport), Jack Harrison produced a lethal performance for the Whites, firing in two goals in the first-half of the club’s clash with the National League North outfit.
After breaking the deadlock in the friendly in the third minute, the winger fired in a superb strike from 25-yards on the stroke of half-time (via LeedsLive).
Reacting to the standard of Harrison’s display on Twitter, plenty of Leeds fans lauded him for his efforts.
Very impressed with all the boys tonight… but Harrison in particular looked phenomenal. The hard work he has put in is paying off. Could be a star this season. #lufc

Just seen Harrison’s goals yesterday. Think Bielsa recalling him has given him a huge confidence boost, got a feeling he’s going to surprise a few people this year #lufc

I know it’s only York but I got very giddy watching #harrison and #douglas link up last night. I’d go as far and sat we’re going to win the league by 10 clear points… #ALAW #MOT #lufc

Jack Harrison was the big positive from the senior group, and it was also nice to see some promising performances from the youngsters. McCalmont, Hosannah, Casey, Jenkins, Odour, and McCarron all looked very sharp. #LUFC

Happy with that tonight, only York of course but as expected the movement of the ball was brilliant and we took our chances well. Jack Harrison looked sharp, along with Struijk and Gotts when the youngens came on #LUFC

Having been directly involved in eight goals for Leeds during his spell at Elland Road last season (via Transfermarkt), the 22-year-old will be aiming to improve his output in the final third during the upcoming campaign, with notable pundit Noel Whelan criticising him (per Football Insider) at times last season.
Still, while these are early stages, Harrison’s performance yesterday did look promising.
