Liverpool have fallen short of their exceptional standards this season, despite spending £450m in the summer to bolster their squad.
The Reds are currently sixth in the Premier League table, battling Chelsea and Manchester United to finish inside the top four and secure Champions League football for next season.
Despite a torrid run in the top flight, the Merseyside giants remain in the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League round of sixteen, meaning Arne Slot will be working tirelessly to bring success to Anfield regardless of their domestic struggles.
Liverpool may have spent heavily in the summer, but they also moved on several experienced members of the squad, including Luis DÃaz, CaoimhÃn Kelleher, Darwin Núñez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarell Quansah and Harvey Elliott, alongside the tragic loss of Diogo Jota.
There is no doubt the squad is in a period of transition, and the future of this Liverpool side could look very different over the next two years, particularly with several senior figures approaching the end of their contracts in 2027.
Mohamed Salah, Alisson Becker, Ibrahima Konaté, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson and Curtis Jones all have deals set to expire within the next 18 months, and rival clubs are already monitoring the situation closely.
According to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are interested in signing Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper.
The report claims the Serie A giants are planning to reinvest heavily in the squad during the summer of 2026, with Alisson identified as a key target to strengthen their goalkeeping department.
Will Alisson extend his stay at Liverpool?

Alisson has been a central figure in Liverpool’s most recent successes and remains hugely influential in decisive moments to this day.
The Brazilian joined the Reds from AS Roma in July 2018 in a then-record-breaking deal and quickly became the catalyst for Liverpool’s Champions League triumph over Tottenham Hotspur.
Since then, he has collected two Premier League titles, two Carabao Cups and an FA Cup, among several other honours during an outstanding eight-year spell on Merseyside.
Dubbed “phenomenal” by Neil Warnock, the 33-year-old has frequently been debated as the best goalkeeper in the world and has consistently justified the acclaim he has received.
However, if Liverpool are serious about returning to domestic and European dominance, planning for life after Alisson will become unavoidable in the coming years.
The Reds secured the signing of Giorgi Mamardashvili in 2024, although the highly-rated goalkeeper only arrived at the club in the summer of 2025, he is widely expected to be Alisson’s long-term successor.
For now, Slot has remained steadfast in keeping his Brazilian shot-stopper as the undisputed number one at Anfield.
Yet, with Alisson’s contract situation looming, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool would consider cashing in next summer.
That decision may ultimately hinge on whether the Liverpool boss believes Mamardashvili is ready to step into regular first-team football without compromising the exceptionally high standard set by his predecessor.
