Liverpool and Man City hold firm interest in Bournemouth’s Kerkez

AFC Bournemouth v Fulham FC - Premier League

Bournemouth left back Milos Kerkez has drawn admirers near and far for his performances this season.

Sky Sports has reported that both Liverpool and Man City, along with Real Madrid, are chasing the 21-year-old’s signature, with Bournemouth bracing themselves for bids for many of their star performers.

The left-back has appeared in each of Bournemouth’s 33 matches this season, claiming eight clean sheets. His attacking prowess in particular has raised eyebrows, scoring two goals and supplying five assists. His pace and crossing ability make him a threat in transition, and Kerkez has emerged as one of the Premier League’s best young talents.

Kerkez is said to have a release clause in the region of £50m, and like several of his teammates, he could be the centre of many bidding wars this summer. Fellow Cherries Dean Huijsen and Antoine Semenyo have also seen their stocks rise, and Iraola’s men could be set for an overhaul.

Long time admirers

It was Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes who originally signed Kerkez for Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar in 2023. Hughes was a key member of the Bournemouth scouting staff, being promoted to Technical Director before his departure. He joined Liverpool in June of 2024 and is keen to sign Kerkez once again.

The Reds view Kerkez as a long term replacement for Andy Robertson, with the future of Konstantinos Tsimikas in doubt.

As for Man City, Pep Guardiola’s men could be in search of a long term natural left-back, having used central defender Josko Gvardiol and young midfielder Nico O’Reilly as cover in that position recently.

The Cityzens are reeling from what has been an underwhelming season and will likely look to use this summer transfer window to rebuild.

Kerkez is said to be relaxed about his future, with reports suggesting he will wait until the end of the season to assess his options. The 21 year old Hungary international wants to remain an important first team regular at any club he joins, especially ahead of a potential World Cup berth for Hungary in 2026.

It will be interesting to see if any other clubs throw their hat in the ring for Kerkez’s signature. His current deal does not expire until June of 2028 so Bournemouth are under no real pressure to sell.

It is believed that a further year at Bournemouth is not out of the realm of possibility either, with the player said be enjoying life on the south coast.
