Liverpool are preparing for life after Mohamed Salah, with the Egyptian superstar confirming he will leave Anfield at the end of the season.
Replacing the club’s all-time Premier League goalscorer was never going to be straightforward. Even at this stage of his career, Salah remains one of the most productive forwards in world football, meaning Liverpool face a huge decision over how they reshape their attack.
Do they spend heavily on an established elite-level winger, or invest in a younger talent capable of becoming the next superstar over time?
It appears the Reds may already have a target in mind.
Liverpool In Talks for Barcola
Liverpool are reportedly in discussions with the representatives of Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola ahead of a potential summer move.
The French attacker — described as “decisive” by PSG boss Luis Enrique — has emerged as one of Europe’s most exciting wide forwards following his rapid rise in Paris.
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool are among several major clubs monitoring the 23-year-old’s situation, alongside Arsenal and Barcelona. While negotiations are still at an early stage and no formal offers have been submitted, talks with the player’s camp are believed to have already taken place.
Barcelona are understood to admire Barcola’s pace, direct dribbling and ability in one-on-one situations, while Arsenal are also said to be pushing strongly for his signature. Liverpool, however, view him as a player capable of helping soften the blow of Salah’s departure.
Barcola joined PSG from Lyon in 2023 and has developed into a key figure in the French champions’ frontline. Across all competitions, he has already registered 38 goals and 37 assists for the club, underlining why Europe’s elite are circling.
There’s still a long way to go in this one, but Liverpool targeting Barcola makes plenty of sense. He is not a Salah clone — few players are — yet he possesses the explosiveness and end product to become the centrepiece of a new-look attack over the coming years.
