Liverpool have found it extremely difficult to defend their Premier League title win this season, and the summer will offer them opportunity to iron out their concerns.
The Reds suffered their tenth league defeat of the season on Saturday afternoon against Brighton and Hove Albion, as they continue to struggle to find consistency and comfortably compete for a Champions League qualifying spot.
Indeed, their midweek clash with Galatasaray gave a glimpse of the Liverpool that supporters have grown to know and love, but that joy in Europe is rarely being replicated in domestic fixtures.
The international break offers time for Arne Slot and his squad to reflect and refresh ahead of their challenging fixture schedule over the business end of the campaign, as there are still opportunities for silverware.
In the long term, the future of the manager is largely under question, and if Liverpool do fail to qualify for Champions League football, it is expected to be a foregone conclusion.
As a result, there will be a lot for the club’s hierarchy to address in the summer, and further squad investment will be high on the list to repair the weaknesses the side have shown this season.
According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool are in talks to get a deal done for Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.
The publication claims that both Liverpool and Chelsea have been in close communication with Camavinga’s representatives ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Liverpool are claimed to be the keenest to snap up their long-term target, as they have held two meetings with the midfielder’s entourage, and it is noted that Real Madrid could be willing to part ways with him for €50m (£43m).
Should Liverpool sign Eduardo Camavinga?

Despite a strong and expensive recruitment drive last summer, there is still definitely plenty of room for improvement to develop the next chapter of success at Anfield.
Liverpool focused heavily on improving the attacking threat following the departure of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, alongside the tragic death of Diogo Jota.
Significant investment in Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak has yet to pay off for the Reds, but there is real potential there to create a dangerous and prolific threat in front of goal.
Adding a fresh perspective in the centre of the pitch could be the key to unlocking this at Liverpool, and Camavinga is a worthy candidate to make that happen.
The 23-year-old Frenchman – once hailed “extraordinary” by ex-Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti – boasts strengths in ball retention, defensive awareness, dribbling, passing and ball interception, demonstrating an unrivalled work rate and strong attributes as an all-rounder in the centre of the pitch.
There is still plenty of time for Camavinga to develop and blossom into one of the most talented midfielders in the world; however, a lack of game time with Los Blancos has held him back to this point.
Liverpool already have an outstanding group of midfielders at the club, including Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Curtis Jones.
With that being said, it will be interesting to see if the Reds make a formal approach for Camavinga in the summer and how that would affect the future of the current midfield options.
