Liverpool’s season has not gone to plan, but a top-four finish is still within reach.
The reigning champions — beaten in the EFL Cup final by Manchester City and knocked out of both the FA Cup and Champions League — remain just three points off fourth place with five games to go.
Regardless of how the run-in plays out, though, it’s clear Arne Slot will need to strengthen his squad this summer.
Injuries have exposed a lack of depth, but after last year’s heavy spending, the focus now appears to be shifting towards smarter, more cost-effective additions.
Liverpool Plotting Enzo Le Fee Move
Liverpool are considering a move for Sunderland midfielder Enzo Le Fée, with the 24-year-old emerging as a more affordable target ahead of the summer window, according to TEAMtalk.
Valued at around £22 million according to Transfermarkt, Le Fée has impressed with his performances this season, becoming a key figure in Sunderland’s midfield.
His displays have not gone unnoticed, with the Frenchman even described as a “quality player” by club legend Kevin Phillips.
Liverpool are not newcomers to the race, having tracked him previously, and are now thought to be ready to step up their interest as they look to reinforce their options in the centre of the park. However, they are unlikely to have things their own way, with several other Premier League sides also monitoring his situation.
Sunderland, for their part, are keen to keep hold of one of their standout performers and are expected to resist offers as they aim to build on a promising campaign rather than lose key figures.
