Liverpool are 'at the front of the queue' to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham and Jurgen Klopp already has 'the inside scoop from Dortmund', Sky Sports pundit Kevin Campbell has claimed.

The England international is maturing into an exceptional footballer for Dortmund and huge things are expected of him between now and the end of his career.

Liverpool have been endlessly linked with a move for Bellingham in recent months, with a move in 2023 constantly debated in the press.

The 19-year-old is expected to stay at Dortmund for another season, considering they have already lost fellow key man Erling Haaland to Manchester City.

The Latest: 'They've inquired...'

Speaking to Football Insider, Campbell, who works as a pundit with Sky Sports, claims that the Reds are front-runners to snap up the 'big player' at the end of next season and have already made contact:

"I think Dortmund tend to sell one big player a year – and obviously this year it was Haaland. Jude Bellingham will be a better player for having been out in Germany for another year.

"Klopp likes him a lot, that’s obvious. If he comes on the market next summer, I’m sure Liverpool will be at the front of the queue to sign him. They’ve inquired, I’m sure, and Klopp has had the inside scoop from Dortmund – unfortunately he’s not available."

The Verdict: Liverpool's primary target?

It really does look as though Bellingham is arguably Liverpool's big transfer target for the next 12 months or so, as they look to sign a potentially generational talent.

The midfielder already looks like a remarkable prospect, making 90 appearances for a club of Dortmund's stature, as well as winning 15 caps for England, and he seemingly has all the attributes to excel under Klopp, with the German himself apparently desperate to get the deal done.

Liverpool's midfield will need a major tweak at some point soon, considering several players are in their 30s and others are close to that milestone, and Bellingham would be the perfect addition in 2023, in that respect.
