Manchester United look set to battle Premier League rivals Chelsea in a move for Wolves recruitment chief Matt Hobbs, according to Football Insider.

Erik ten Hag ended up with six new first-team signings at a total cost of £216.3m this summer, even though the Red Devils left it late when it came to big-money deals for Casemiro and Antony, with the Brazilian duo arriving in the final two weeks of the transfer window.
United brought in just over £10m through player sales, and it looks like the Glazers want to address the club’s recruitment staff by bringing in Hobbs.

According to Football Insider, both United and Chelsea are keen on Hobbs and are lining up a move for him.
The report adds that a deal could be agreed upon in weeks for the Wolves recruitment chief, who only moved into his current role earlier this year.

The Verdict: One to watch
Hobbs has been in various roles at Wolves over the last seven years, including Head of Emerging Talent, Head of Academy Recruitment and Chief Scout. During that time, the club have gone from strength to strength, rising from the Championship through to the Europa League.
The Old Gold have made some extremely shrewd signings during that time, including United transfer target Ruben Neves, who is now valued at £80m after joining from FC Porto during the 2017/18 season. Hobbs could well help United to secure similar deals, should the Red Devils win the race for his services ahead of Chelsea.
