Manchester United have reportedly been in contact with the representatives of Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram.

The Lowdown: Gakpo blow

The Red Devils could do with a new attacking addition for Erik ten Hag in the New Year after parting ways with Cristiano Ronaldo last month.

They seemed to be working on a move for Cody Gakpo, but as we now know, the Dutch star is on his way to Liverpool. That has led to United chiefs needing to rethink their winter window plans, and it looks as if they have spoken with those close to Thuram.

The Latest: Thuram contact

According to 90min reporter Graeme Bailey, Inter Milan are trying to beat multiple Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, in the race to sign Thuram.

The Serie A side are readying a contract offer for the Frenchman and add that United have spoken with Thuram’s representatives.

The Verdict: Act fast…

Thuram could be available on the cheap in January due to his contract situation and he is primarily a centre-forward who can also play out wide.

The 25-year-old has been even been labelled 'a little crazy' by former team-mate Denis Zakaria and has netted 59 senior goals at club level.

He also featured at the World Cup in Qatar and helped France come back from a two-goal deficit against Argentina in the final with an assist for Kylian Mbappe, so this could be one to watch closely, although United may need to act fast due to the interest in his signature.
