Manchester United are close to agreeing a deal with former Liverpool transfer guru Michael Edwards, Football Insider report.

Edwards made the move to Anfield back in 2011 and was a key figure during his 11-year stay. The 43-year-old helped construct a squad under Jurgen Klopp that has won the Premier League and Champions League.
He left Liverpool over the summer and is taking a one-year break away from football, but it seems as if his next move could be to Old Trafford in 2023.

FI journalist Pete O’Rourke revealed on Tuesday that the Red Devils are close to agreeing a deal with Edwards after submitting a “hugely attractive offer” to him.
The reporter adds that United are willing to wait until next summer for Edwards to move to Old Trafford, with the transfer expert keen on a new challenge.
The Verdict: One to watch
O’Rourke seems to be sure that United are confident of beating Chelsea to Edwards’ services, so this could be one to keep an eye on heading into 2023.

Should a deal be finalised, it looks as if Edwards would arrive ahead of Erik ten Hag’s second season in charge and could be involved in a pivotal summer off the pitch.
Everyone at the club will be hoping Ten Hag can kick on after a solid start, and Edwards’ help in the transfer market could be key to United returning to the top where they will hope to be challenging for the Premier League title.
