Two goals during Leeds United’s come-from-behind win over Rotherham last weekend was much more than just another important win for Marcelo Bielsa’s men.
It was also not just another player stepping up at the right time for the Whites but rather the peaking of one of the club’s most important and most hard-working players.
Bielsa has been fortunate to have a committed and determined group of players that have seen Leeds snatch victories in games where they were far from the best, but the performance by Klich at the New York Stadium was a sign of the resilience and talent of the midfielder.
The Poland international has been nothing but class for the Yorkshire club since making a return to Elland Road in last summer’s transfer window and the showing he has delivered this campaign has sometimes gone unnoticed.
Nonetheless, the two second-half goals he scored against Rotherham was a signal to Bielsa and his teammates that he is ready to see Leeds win the Championship and earn promotion to the Premier League next season.
The 28-year-old’s consistency in the midfield has been a rock for the team to thrive off and he is just the sort of figure the club needs to control play in the centre of the pitch.
His ability to always stay calm and move freely without getting caught in possession was ultimately key to him finding the back of the net twice on Saturday in a game that Leeds struggled with in the first-half.
Klich’s experience came through and it was almost as if a new hero came forward and announced himself to the footballing world.
But that is just the type of player Klich has been this season; doing the dirty work that no one sees and covering ground without any hassle.
Those type of performances is exactly what has set Leeds apart this season and the quality of Klich is one of kind that will almost certainly see the Whites play in the Premier League next season.
