A top six side in the Championship simply cannot be going four games without winning a game of football, however, that is exactly what Middlesbrough have managed after falling to a 3-0 defeat at Villa Park yesterday. The Teessider’s were woeful in Birmingham, and the fans have pinned the loss on Tony Pulis, making it clear they want his resignation.

It looks more and more like the ‘old guard’ of ageing British and Irish managers are on their way out with every sacking at the moment, and if Tony Pulis was to be cut from The Riverside as the Boro fans calls intensify then it would be another step in the right direction. The boring football deployed by the ex-Stoke City and West Brom man is shocking, and the fans are starting to call for him to go.
Of all 92 clubs in the football league, Boro’s total of goals scored and conceded is 71, lower than any other side and only matched by Newcastle United, who have played seven games fewer than the Championship outfit. If results don’t change and Boro drop out of the playoff places, or indeed if the inevitable happens and they fail to go up through the playoffs, then it will surely spell the end for Pulis? When he does eventually leave the club there will be parties in the Northeast, and that day can’t come soon enough.

The Boro fans in attendance yesterday are all in no doubt that Pulis needs to go, and the longer he stays at the club the less chance they have of making it back to the promised land of the Premier League this season.
