Plenty of Newcastle United fans have hailed a takeover report which suggested that no red flags have been raised with regards to the delays that have stopped the deal from going through.
As per Chronicle Live, the delays have apparently been caused following the presentation of new documents underlining links between Saudi Arabia’s government and pirate pay TV broadcaster BeoutQ. However, there were understood to be no red flags raised when beIN Sport raised their concerns to the Premier League recently and the final stages of the test are now being processed, as per the report.
The Tyneside club’s future is now in the hands of Premier League bosses and, if it gets the green light, the next step would be for the funds to complete the £300m deal being paid into Mike Ashley’s accounts.
The CEO of Sports Direct has stayed silent on the takeover story throughout but those close to him indicate he is a willing seller as the prospect of empty grounds and possible repayments to television broadcasters lie on the horizon at St James’ Park. [via Chronicle Live]
