Newcastle fans may be buzzing after scoring three goals or more in successive games, having beaten Blackburn 4-2 AET in midweek and then overcoming Cardiff 3-0n at St James Park yesterday, but they still have no faith in any signings. Tuttomercatoweb has claimed they’ll be signing Grégoire Defrel this window, yet the Magpies don’t believe it.
Newcastle United will sign Roma forward Grégoire Defrel for a fee of around £13m. [Tuttomercato] #NUFC

The 27-year-old French striker hasn’t exactly set the Serie A alight in his career, and after failing to make any major impact for Roma in his loan spell at the club he was snapped by the Rome side and loaned straight back out to Sampdoria. However, in this loan spell he’s again been goal shy with just six strikes in 18 appearances.
Those stats have led to Sampdoria signing Southampton outcast Manolo Gabbiadini, and now that the Italian side has got him in it seems that they’re done with the Frenchman, leading to these reports that Defrel could be set for a change of scenery and a move to St James Park. Either way, though, the Magpies have little faith in signing the 27-year-old, and they’ll be delighted when the window’s over.

The supporters cannot see themselves bringing anyone in this window, let alone a striker whio might help solves their problems.
