The Newcastle fans who pack into St James park week in week out during the Premier League season have been horribly neglected this summer. The club has spent just £4 million and despite money supposedly being made available the fans are yet to see it. However, according to Alan Nixon on Twitter, the Magpies could be set to sign Bristol City left-back, Joe Bryan.
Joe Bryan to #nufc is on, according to those close to the deal. Bristol City searching for a replacement and United are his most likely destination. [Alan Nixon]

Newcastle United have let both Jesus Gamez and Massadio Haidara go this summer and are now very short on the full-back front. The club seem strapped for cash and have been mostly looking at loans and frees, however, the Geordies could finally be set to spend some real money as they get nearer to a £6 million move for Joe Bryan of Bristol City. Bryan impressed last season and would not look out of place in a Premier League team.
The form of Bryan and Bristol City caught the eyes of a number of top teams in England last season. Lee Johnson’s boys got to the League Cup semi-final having beaten Manchester United in the quarters, a game where Bryan opened the scoring in a 2-1 win. If Newcastle did get Bryan he would be a perfect addition to the squad and would be well placed to challenge with Paul Dummett for a place in the starting eleven as Rafa Benitez looks to have a similar season to last year when the club managed a 10th place finish.

As i said i have never watched him play but another left back is okay for me, we only have one & he should be switched to full time center halve in my opinion ….

As you can see, the fans all seem keen on Bryan and it wouldn’t be too shocking to see him join the Magpies given his seemingly low fee.
